He’s back this week with a particularly difficult word to decipher, so Newsweek is here to help you with a handful of tips that should help you solve the puzzle before all your tries are over.

The New York Times-The proprietary puzzler has taken the internet by storm after software engineer Josh Wardle completed the game during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since its success, a variety of other puns have sprung up, including the notoriously trickier Quordle, which requires players to solve four words per day, instead of one.

Wardle sold his game to The New York Times in February, soon after, he became an internet sensation.

Players should only place real words in Wordle’s color-coded grid, which indicates how close a player is to cracking the game.

If you guess the correct letter in the correct position, the tile on the grid will turn green. If you selected a letter that is part of today’s answer, that tile will turn yellow. Finally, if you have chosen an incorrect letter that is not part of the wordle of the day, the tile will remain grey.

The object of the game is to solve each puzzle in as few guesses as possible.

A good starting strategy for a first attempt is to select a word that contains as many vowels as possible, such as “aerial” or “audio” and to avoid choosing letters such as “x”, “z” and “q”. until you are certain that the word of the day could contain them.
